She was the most famous cow in New Zealand for a while last year – for what her mother would probably say were all the wrong reasons.
Another interesting piece of information I found recently was a chart showing the average, top 10% and top 1% breeding values for the main NZ dairy breeds. Is it my imagination or is the cow in the top 1% considerably higher than the average AI sire? Jersey Udder Overall of 1.03, Dairy Conformation .63 – Friesian even higher. You’d be looking a long way to find bulls to improve those cows.
